Welcome! If you are looking to integrate robot control into your software, you likely have questions about how our licensing works, how to get a quote, and what happens after purchase.
This guide acts as a FAQ to clarify the entire process, from your first download to long-term deployment.
1. The Lifecycle: How it Works
We believe in simplicity. No hidden subscriptions, no "per-robot" fees. Here is the journey of a license:
⏱️ Phase 1: The Trial
- Start immediately: Download the SDK (website, NuGet, PyPI, or GitHub) and start your free 30-day trial.
- Need more time? If your Proof of Concept (POC) takes longer than expected, simply use the form on our website to extend your trial.
💳 Phase 2: Purchase & Perpetual Ownership
- One-time payment: When you buy a license, you receive a software key. It's like a password string to use in a
RegisterLicensemethod (no USB key or any license software to install). - Perpetual Use: Your license is yours forever. Even if you never pay us another cent, your applications will continue to work eternally.
- No runtime fees: You can deploy your application to as many customers, robots, or machines as you want.
🛠️ Phase 3: Maintenance & Support
- Included Maintenance: Depending on the license, you get 1 or 3 years of active maintenance. This grants you access to software updates and technical support.
- Renewing (Optional): When maintenance ends, you can choose to renew it for another year to keep getting updates.
- If you don't renew: The maintenance period closes, but your software keeps working. You simply stay on the last version you downloaded.
2. Which License is Right for You?
We used to have a "Site License," but this has evolved into two distinct offers: Standard and Pro. For those needing total control, we offer the Source license.
All licenses are perpetual and allow unlimited redistribution of your compiled application to your customers.

💡 Note on Upgrades: You can start small and grow. It is possible to upgrade from Standard to Source and from Pro to Source simply by paying the price difference. However, please note that upgrading from Standard to Pro is not available directly; instead, you would need to purchase additional maintenance years, which results in a higher total cost than the Pro package.

- Audit & Compliance: Your security team can audit every line of code.
- Debugging: Step through the library code directly in Visual Studio to understand exactly what is happening.
- Independence: You are not locked into a "black box" vendor. Even if UnderAutomation disappears in 10 years, you own the engine and can maintain it yourself.
4. Purchasing, Quotes & Payments
We make the administrative side as frictionless as possible for your purchasing department.
📄 Quotes and Invoices
- Self-Service: You can generate a formal Quote or Invoice (PDF) directly from our order page in your preferred currency (EUR or USD).
- Manual Request: If you have specific vendor forms or need a custom reference, you can handle the process with us via email.
💳 Payment Methods
- Credit Card: We accept payments in USD and EUR.
- Bank Transfer (Wire): We accept wire transfers in EUR to our French IBAN.
- Note: Wire transfers are currently not available in USD.

6. Technical Compatibility
Regardless of the license you choose, the technology stack remains robust:
- .NET: The core engine. Works with Desktop, Web, APIs, and Services.
- Python: Supported via a wrapper. You get a Python-friendly API while the .NET engine does the heavy lifting.
- LabVIEW: Supported via a set of VIs that wrap the .NET library, designed to fit the native LabVIEW dataflow programming style.
